Getting the most out of the Tiny Tablet!

There is no doubt about it that prescribing yourself one of these tablets is good for you ... the Lily Bee Tiny Tablet that is!

I love the tiny tablets that Lily Bee produces for each of its ranges.  It means that you can cut smaller pieces of paper to use on your layouts, but still have the benefit of being able to see lots of the lovely patterns.

I have used the papers in the tiny tablet from the Memorandum range on this layout about my family ...

I simply cut 1.5 inch squares from a selection of the papers and then laid them together under the photo to create this grid.  I then added a row of the banner stickers below the grid.

 

I used the Stationery range for the background and for the three circles that I included.  I splashed the background with a white mist for another layer of detail.  Once again, I placed the title around one of the circles ... this is definitely becoming a habit for me!  I also included that gorgeous family quote from the rubons in one of Lily Bee's older ranges.

The hearts were punched from another of the tiny tablets papers and I attached them to the layout with foam tape for dimension.  I then wrapped them with a little twine so it is like they are in a little nest.

I love the memorandum range!  Definitely a go to range for me.  I challenge you to grab a tiny tablet and create a layout today.

Friday Inspiration

Happy Friday! Katja here with a Layout to show you a different use of the Journaling cards.
I love the journaling cards that now come with every release. Here I have used them as photo mats and to to break up the bold colors on the page. I have mixed the 'Memorandum' and 'Harvest Market' collections and used the 'Stationery' papers as my background.

Paper Hearts

Just like most of you, Pinterest is full of inspiration. I have been admiring these cute little hearts. They are so simple and super easy to make.


To create them in layers, Cut an even number of strips 3/4" x 4" and 3/4" x 3 1/2".


Layer together both sizes, smaller strip on the outside and larger strip on the inside. Place a favorite piece of ribbon or twine between both larger pieces (in the middle).


Staple the bottom end to hold all the pieces together and loop the smaller, outside strip into a heart and adhere the opposite end and repeat with larger loop, making sure it is flush with the smaller looped heart.


Or fold both large and small strips together at the opposite end and staple both ends together.


Pretty simple. I made a bunch of them & have them hanging around in bunch of branches in our family room & some hanging from our mantel. Love these & would so fun to make with your kids, too.

Day 22 - Joy Holiday Gift Bag

Are you counting down to the big day yet? Just three more sleeps till Christmas!

If you're not done your holiday wrapping yet, that's OK. There's still time and there's still time to create a quick holiday gift bag to wrap things up in as well.


I love wrapping with custom gift bags. First of all, gift bags are so easy to wrap with and they are very quick and easy to make. You can keep them super simple by just adhering some pretty patterned paper on the front of a kraft gift bag or you can add a little more pizazz by creating a fun holiday scene.


To create a scene, I always love to start with easy shapes. A house can be built with a square and a triangle but for this design, I've cut out some wavy snow banks and some triangle shapes evergreens. A star punch makes for a super quick tree topper. And I seriously love how all the tiny dots on the Jingle line papers looks like a pretty snowfall.


When you're working with numerous papers to create a scene, I like to adhere them to some coordinating scrap paper. By building the scene on the paper, you can get everything just right and then adhere the final piece to the front of the gift bag. This also lets you add some stitching details if you wish to.


The Lily Bee ABC Stickers are perfect for adding in a little holiday cheer sentiment.


Finally, top off your bag with some ribbon and embellishments you have on hand.

Memories of Summer

My little sis

When I design a scrapbook page, typically my method is to decorate and embellish and distress and mostly do the "pretty" side of scrapbooking.... and then I get to my journaling and I realize I have no spot left for it so I squeeze it in somewhere. 

My little sister (who is 11 years younger than me) is moving into her first apartment this weekend, and it's welling up all sorts of emotions in me. I wanted to combine my thoughts along with these pictures of my beautiful sis. In order to make sure I have room to make the photos and the journaling the focus, I kept my design fairly simple and even put my journaling smack dab in the middle of the layout where you can't miss it! 

 I loved the little sticker from the "This & That" mixed cardstock stickers sheet with the quote about sisters on it. It was a perfect accent for this page.

still inspired...

Even with the delicious new ranges from CHA I am still finding so much inspiration from the older lines. Today I'd like to share two layouts, one using This & That and another with Happily Lost.

I absolutely adore this photo of my oldest and youngest together. Lucy dotes on Archie so much, it always warms my heart to see how much she loves him. Given how much I love the photo, I wanted to keep the layout simple to make sure it was the main focus. I've used one quite neutral paper as my background and then just added some splashes of colour by punching butterflies out of some of the brighter papers.

Even with a simple layout I wanted to include some dimension so I've added some bright baker's twine in big loops, letting them stand up from the page.

The second layout is one of myself with my dear friend Jenae who recently sold her scrapbooking store. This photo was taken at the farewell party. I've gone with pink and lime green as these were the colours of the store logo.

It is such a bold combination that the layout looked almost full before it was started and yet I wanted to include lots of detail. I decided to group my embellishments into tight clusters which allowed me to use a lot of little bits and pieces without the layout looking too cluttered.

Just an Ordinary Day

I don't know about you, but most of my days are simply, ordinary days. Sure there are birthdays, holidays and celebrations but for the most part, I enjoy a very ordinary life. And I like it that way. A lot.

So while I scrapbook all the special events and milestones, I really love scrapbooking the ordinary moments that make up my life. The simple days spent with my family, doing ordinary things.

Today's layout uses pictures I took of my son as we were playing outside a couple months ago. We didn't do anything particularly special besides enjoy that...

One Fine Day




This layout mostly uses the This & That line by Lily Bee Design but you'll find some others tucked in as well. I love how everything Lily Bee all works so well together.


I decided to explore using the banner stickers to create some fun graphic style flowers for this layout. They are so easy to create, whimsical and I love how they are masculine enough to use on a boy layout.

You'll also notice lots of stamping on this layout. Stamps are fabulous for adding quick accents on a page.

Layouts to share

I have a couple of layouts to share with you this month using the Stationery range for the backgrounds. I am a huge fan of using patterned paper for backgrounds of layouts and the Stationery range of papers are just perfect for this with their subtle ledger and dot designs.

In this first layout I have used the ledger printed side as the background paper.


For this first layout I also punched all of the hearts from the pink Stationery paper using the dot design instead of the ledger.


For this second layout I have used the polka dot side of the Stationery paper as the background.


I totally love the Stationery range!

Experimenting With Textures

Hi Everyone!!

Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend! I know I've been super busy trying to clear as much space in my scrapping area as possible to make room for all the new collections. Yikes - everything is just gorgeous! (do scroll down if you haven't had a chance to see all the new collections). I just adore the new papers, the color combinations in the collections, more ABC alphas (these are super addictive and perfect for all types of projects), those super fun journaling card/tabs -must have - and my most favorite, more STATIONERY colors. sigh. (please excuse me for a few minutes as I need to dry up my keyboard).

In my fatally attempts to clean up my scrapping area, I discovered that I still had a few pieces of chipboard accents left from the Domestic Bliss collection and love how these coordinated perfectly with the new Happily Lost collections and therefore, inspired me to create this layout about various textures (and also challenging myself to include as many as I could find/fit).

I first started with these glossy chipboard accents (domestic bliss) and contrasted them against the raw chipboard (alphas); with the aim for the colored ones to capture the attention and the raw ones to add a hint of surprise as they are layered on grey pattern paper (if that makes sense/tone on tone). Then to add further texture contrast, I added the fabric flowers to provide the soft and flowing feel against the hard and stiffness of chipboard elements; keeping the colors muted (grey) as to not draw too much attention to what the embellishment is but for it to provide textural element.

Then came the tissue tape which added design elements without taking away the original design and colors of the pattern paper. In which I then paired with a transparency as a background to provide another subtle design element.

Divide & Conquer

Need a quick way to get a page started? Try my "Divide & Conquer" method! Simply divide your page into four equal quadrants, designating each space to hold your photos, journaling, title, or embellishments.

For this page, I filled two areas with my photos and used the other two for my embellishments, title and journaling:
