September Challenge: Audrey

>> Monday, August 31, 2009

“You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you."

-- Audrey Hepburn

Elegance.
Beauty.
Grace.
Charm.

We're talking about Audrey, of course:
This month, two lucky winners will receive the ENTIRE Audrey line from Lily Bee. If you'd like to be one of these winners, submit up to two layouts, cards, or projects using the Audrey line to Lily Bee's Ning gallery by Wednesday, September 30, before midnight MST. International entries are welcome! The two lucky winners will be announced on the Lily Bee blog on Monday, October 5.

A few of our designers translated their love of all things Audrey to their layouts and projects below:
"Thank You"
by Leah Killian
The best thing to hold on to in life is each other.
-- Audrey Hepburn
A thank you note is not only a way to express gratitude, it's also classy. The bold colors and graceful movements captured in the design of the Audrey papers add an extra touch of class to Leah's card.

"To Be 3"
by Stephanie Howell
For me, the only things of interest are those linked to the heart.
-- Audrey Hepburn
Stephanie embraces the elegance and charm of the Audrey line with a layout that pairs bold patterns and feminine accents with a charming little subject: her own little Miss Hepburn, her daughter.

"True Beauty"
by Jill Sprott

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

-- Audrey Hepburn

Taking inspiration from the quote above, this layout combines Audrey papers and rub-ons with photos that speak to the true nature of beauty. The floral accents were handcut and crafted from the "Classy" and "Graceful" Audrey papers, with sweet little button centers.

"Affection"
by Lori Gentile
I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.
-- Audrey Hepburn
Lori created this show-stopper of a wall hanging for her craft room with the "Graceful," "Smashing," Hollywood", and "Cosmopolitan" Audrey papers, demonstrating the versatility of a line fitting for both a starlet and a rough-and-tumble boy. "It captures my son perfectly," she says. "This quote is both of us to a T."

"Flawless"
by Nicole Harper

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone.

-- Audrey Hepburn

Elegance. Beauty. Grace. Charm. All of these qualities and more are evident in this lovely layout by Nicole. In addition to pairing the Audrey papers beautifully, Nicole includes an "A" monogram for a stylish touch.

"Sweet and Sassy"
by Katrina Huerta
I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.
-- Audrey Hepburn
Katrina's layout is Audrey all over, showcasing spirit, spunk, and sweetness. Her layout demonstrates the unique ability of this special line to convey both an understated grace and a bold sense of whimsy.

Now it's time for you to embrace YOUR Audrey. We can't wait to see your layouts, cards, and projects using this fantastic line!

Audrey Line will begin hitting store shelves within the next week.

Friday Faves 8/28 edition!

>> Friday, August 28, 2009

Hey Lily Bee fans! Hope you are having a fabulous Friday.
Just a quick note before I share this week's batch of Friday Faves.

Lily Bee is now officially on Twitter. Follow us HERE for a chance to win a RAK!

Now on with the eye candy. This week's faves all come from one source:
The My Scrapbook Nook Gallery. I was blown away by what I found there!

First is this eye-poppingly beautiful layout by Ching Tan. Everything about this is breathtaking and the layering is simply awesome. I think that my favorite thing, though, is the way that she cut that green paper from our Three Little Birds collection. Beautifully done, Ching.

Next we have this creative layout by Camilla Ekman. I adore the way she cut the papers to make a circle, and her color combinations are rich and delectable. Thanks so much for showcasing our papers so beautifully, Camilla!

I've been a fan of Stacey Michaud for quite some time. Everything she makes is just stunning, and this layout is no exception. I adore the die cut peeking out, and those patterned paper trees? beee-yoo-tiful! Thanks for making Lily Bee look so good, Stacey!

And last we have this pretty confection by Jen Pohl. I have a tough time making cards and this makes me long to make one right this very moment!! Thanks for sharing your card, Jen...it makes me all kinds of happy!

Remember to follow us on Twitter and keep sending us those Lily Bee links!

And I may be known for spilling the beans, but i'm NOT this time. I will tell you that September holds amazing things for Lily Bee, including the introduction of our new monthly contests, and something else HUGE!

Happy Friday,
Bee Happy!

Our Very First Guest Designer

>> Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Lily Bee wants to welcome the fabulous Virginia Tillery to our blog!

You may recall that Virginia won our "Just Bee Me" mini album contest a while back.
Since she won, we have the pleasure of welcoming her as our very first guest designer. YAY!

We asked Virginia our favorite questions and here is what she had to say:

Must Have Scrapbook Supply? Patterned paper. I'm a paper junkie!

When & Why did you start scrapbooking? I started unofficially back in high school, but really got into it around the time I got married, 9 years ago. I went to a home party and was hooked right away. Give me paper and anything resembling office supplies and you've got me hook, line, and sinker!

Guilty Pleasures... reality (and I use that term loosely!) tv; a bubble bath with a magazine

Two things you want very badly at this moment? to give birth to this baby (I'm 34 weeks along!) and a Route 44 Cherry Limeade from Sonic

3 items that are in your purse.. my 4 year old daughter's notebook, my handmade planner, and a book about raising girls.

Favorite Scrapbook Technique or Style? I love anything distressed or layered.

When do you feel most creative? Late at night when the house is quiet and clean... maybe a little thunderstorm in the background and a few candles lit.

Do you snack while you scrapbook? If so what? Rarely, but I have to have my Diet Dr. Pepper by my side!

Do you have a scrapbook confession? I tend to save (and use) every scrap I can from my patterned papers. My trash can rarely has scraps in it!

Favorite Tv Shows? Big Brother, Survivor, the Bachelorette/Bachelor, Psych, the Office, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model and rockin' it old school style, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (Hey, I never claimed to have good taste! hee!)

Jobs you've had? Church secretary, Lifeguard, Camp Counselor, Pre-K teacher, and the best one of all, Mommy.

What are you listening to right now? My 4 year old and 3 year old playing in a tent in the living room.

Favorite thing about working with Lily Bee Design? I love that their papers have a good mix of bold colors with vintage influence. That is PERFECT for my style! Their rub ons pretty much rock the casbah!!

And now on to the realllllly good part...here are Virginia's gorgeous creations!!

Virginia, thank you SO much for sharing your amazing work with us this month. Your projects are a joy to see!

xoxo

Friday Faves!!!

>> Friday, August 14, 2009

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing two Lily Bee layouts that caught my eye this week.

First up is a layout by Laradee for Your Scrapbook Stash. Her use of texture is awesome. I also adore the way she made flowers from our paper. This is just a happy, creative layout. So happy I stumbled across it.

Then we have this gem by the fantastic Nicole Samuels.
I am in LOVE with the way she used our rub-ons as a sheet. I've got to try this. Just incredible, Nicole. One of my absolute favorite layouts.

That's it for today! As always, link us up to your favorite LB creations.
Happy Friday!!

Friday's Favorites

>> Friday, August 7, 2009

I loved how *larialbernaz* from A Million Memories used our damask paper and created a multi-picture layout.

Created by briarrose86304 from A Million Memories. I loved the clean lines and the die-cut she created out of our paper.

I found this from MichelleGA over at Two Peas...again loved how she created a clean crisp page of her daughter's birthday.

Wow, so many layouts popping up everywhere with Lily Bee! I love seeing what ladies are creating with our products. Here are a few favorites that I found:

A Little Audrey

>> Monday, August 3, 2009

This layout was done using the new Lily Bee Design Audrey line. I love this line because it's so versatile. It's so great for boys (and most certainly girls) with it's rich blacks, reds, blues and golds. For those of us with boys that struggle to find great paper, this is it. I can't wait to use this line for karate, pumpkin picking, school, lego play, train play, and much more...

Here my guys are cracking up with our photographer, Pascale Wowak. She always manages to catch their real personalities, which I love. I knew I wanted to do a layout about their close relationship. It is my great hope that they can always be this close and always be able to get each other howling with laughter with very little effort.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!
