lily bee: Getting Inky..Step by Step

Anyone out there love to get their hands messy? Have a little artistic fun? I really love playing around with different techniques when paper crafting and Lily Bee Design stamps are perfect for exploring your creativity with.

Today I have an inky project to share using the Head Over Heels stamps from Lily Bee. You can totally use these stamps to simple stamp on your layouts and cards but they also have lots of possibilities for making artistic embellishments. The step outs will show you how easy it is and you can create a tag that is a perfect accent for a card or a layout.

First of all, here's the finished project so you know where we're headed. We're going to be using fun resist technique on the tag.

To create the resist you need to stamp the doily stamp on a manila tag. You can use a white tag if you'd rather have the doilies appear white. The point of a resist is so that the ink doesn't get on the surface underneath and you have the original color showing through.

Use a clear embossing ink or a clear watermark ink to stamp this and then sprinkle the stamping with clear embossing powder. Remove excess and then heat set. You'll have some beautiful glossy embossing that looks like the photo above.

Next we're going to make the resist pop. Simply spray on some dye ink spray and then blot the ink over the doilies to remove the excess. The embossing with resist the ink and allow the original manila color to show through.

I wanted to add a little more dimension to my tag so I've added some more stamping on the tag and then sponged the edges with a distress ink.

Once you've got your tag how you want it to look, make your card using the coordinating Head Over Heels patterned papers and adhere the layers well.

To make the title, I've combined both stamping and the Lily Bee ABC Stickers. Don't be afraid to mix and match mediums.

Mist a flower or other embellishment with the same inks and adhere to your project. Tie with twine and add tiny stamped tag to the bottom of the card.

And that's it. A unique project and tag embellishment that is all your own.
