Must Have Scrapbook Supply?
I would be lost without Fabri-Tac and Scrappy Glue.

When & Why did you start scrapbooking?

I started in the late 1990's. I wanted to scrapbook about my Grandmother and my boyfriend (now husband). I had never thought of myself as being creative, and when I saw my Cousin's scrapbooks I thought it would be something I could actually do that was meaningful, fun and not too creative. Boy, have things changed!

Guilty Pleasures...
Coffee!!! It's the one thing I know I should give up, but just won't.

Two things you want very badly at this moment?
A new camera and a photoshop upgrade.

3 items that are in your purse..
Ha! I'm the total anti-girl here. I literally only have three things in my purse; wallet, phone and a small point and shoot camera.

Favorite Scrapbook Technique/ or Style?
I have to sew on everything or it just seems unfinished. I feel the same way about bling. I need some sort of shiny something on my layouts. I like to add texture and dimension. That said, I like my photos to be front and center before everything else.

When do you feel most creative?
Unfortunately, I'm most creative first thing in the morning. That's usually the time I'm taking care of everyone else. Fortunately, I have a wonderful husband who gives me weekend morning time to create.

Do you snack while you scrapbook? If so what?
No. Never.

Do you have a scrapbook confession?
I put my entire layout together without adhering anything down. When I like it, I gently lift corners and such, trying not to shift anything, and use a wet adhesive to get it all secure. I have a terrible memory, so if I actually lifted things off to get tape runner or ATG glue on the backs of them, I'd never remember how to put it all back together.

Favorite Tv Shows?
Smallville, American Idol, 24, Lost, Project Runway and Top Chef.

Jobs you've had?
My first job was in retail. Then, I was a receptionist, then an accounting clerk, then a certified Buyer/Contract Negotiator, and then a Program Manager. Now, I am a hard working Stay-at-Home Mommy.

What are you listening to right now?
Adam Lambert's studio version of "One", Pink's "Sober", Tori Amos' "Welcome to England", and the latest albums by The Fray and Rascal Flatts.

Happy Memorial Day

>> Monday, May 25, 2009

Hi. Lori here. I hope you have been enjoying the holiday weekend. To honor the holiday, I decided to make a card to donate to Cards for Heroes. This is a wonderful organization that sends cards of encouragement and gratitude to our Armed Forces, as well as blank cards for them to use to write home. On Saturday, they hosted a fantastic blog hop. You can go here to see all the wonderful cards.

The card I made is a simple blank card. Lily Bee paper is so versatile that I was able to pull out patriotic colors to use. I cut the stars using the Making Memories Slice machine. The remaining red accents are our die cuts from the French Couture line.

I have been wanting to make some projects to hang around the house. This Fancy Pants frame was a great excuse to do just that. I wanted my photos to be the main focus of the frame, so I kept it very simple. I decorated the upper center frame with chipboard letters covered in Lily Bee French Couture paper and our Laugh and Three Little Birds Accent rub-ons. The rub-ons go on like butter. They are so smooth and easy to work with. I recommend putting one staple at the top of the rub-on sheet before you start cutting them out. This will keep the back from separating from the front of the remaining rub-ons.

I like how simple the frame turned out. It looks really great hanging on my grey-blue walls. I couldn't get a picture of it against the blue walls without a ton of glare, so I settled for photographing it on the ground with white behind it. Maybe you can imagine a lovely grey-blue peeking out instead.

Please don't forget about our contest. You still have one week to link us up to your entry. Have a wonderful Monday!

The way that Sue used our patterned papers really caught my eye.
Love the artisan shape, Sue!

Must Have Scrapbook Supply? ledger/graph paper, alpha stickers

When & Why did you start scrapbooking? 1999, when my daughter was born. took a hiatus after a year or so, and came back to it in 2005...wow, had the hobby changed, lol!

Guilty Pleasures...a hot bath after everyone goes to bed, a nice handbag or two and cheese.

Two things you want very badly at this moment? a pair of earrings that i can wear with everything and more time at home.

3 items that are in your purse...Peppermint Lip Smacker by Bonne Bell (i haven't grown up yet, lol), tons of change floating around at the bottom instead of in my coin purse and a hand written note that Allie snuck in there when i was going out of town last year.

Favorite Scrapbook Technique/ or Style? i've never met a piece of paper that couldn't be distressed, swiped with paint or torn. as for style, that one always trips me up. i guess if i had to put a name to it, i might say vintage-clean, lol?

When do you feel most creative? at night...i never go to bed before midnight, even on work nights. if i do, i end up staring at the ceiling...so i get up and sit at my desk anyway.

Do you snack while you scrapbook? If so what? nope...i'm clumsy. there would be all KINDS of stuff on my pages.

Do you have a scrapbook confession? i have 2...flowers are like kryptonite to me, and i can't make a card to save my life.

Favorite Tv Shows? i don't have one...i hardly ever watch tv because i'm usually on the dang computer, lol.

Jobs you've had? clerk at a craft store, salesperson at The Gap (man, that was an awesome discount), lifeguard at the city pool and my current job/career...Surgical Assistant in Neurosurgery.

What are you listening to right now? Sirius Hits 1 (satellite radio)...i love pop/hip-hop/top 40. i never have been very 'cool' when it comes to music...i've always been content with whatever is on the radio.

Friday Faves

>> Friday, May 8, 2009

Hi everyone! Today is our favorite blog day of the week; Friday Faves. It's the day we get to feature what you do with Lily Bee Design products. An easy way to share your work with us, is to link us to it on any post. We, also, spend some time searching larger galleries, so be sure to mention Lily Bee when you are uploading.

I love this layout by Hilde Janbroers. I love the sweet baby photo and the amazing layering. It's just wonderful!

This layout by Raechelle Bellus, had me cracking up as soon as I saw it. I LOVE that she scrapped this moment of everyday life, so real and true. No doubt, this will be a fun layout to look back on in future years. I love the way she cut up the Double Dutch paper here.

I think this layout by Gudrun Loennecken is so fun and whimsical. I adore the little trees and birds and how well everything works with the Lily Bee French Couture paper.

Leah Killian made this adorable layout about her daughter's nicknames. I love that she chose to do a layout and journal about this. It's so easy to forget these things. I love all of the hand-cut details and how well the photos pop off the page and remain the focus.

I love this layout by Jessica Lute. It's so simple and yet so full of detail. Unfortunately, I can relate to the subject matter, as well. Hmm, maybe it's a boy thing?

Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend!

Hey Lily Bee readers - it's Brenda - and excited to be sharing some Lily Bee projects today featuring the French Couture line. I LOVE the rich colors and patterns in the line - almost fall colors but can be used for so much more. For this card i use 'handmade' for the background and then a die cut frame from French Couture to place the sentiment on. This card is also from French Couture and has a totally different look and feel. I actually used the die cut frames. I wanted smaller patterns so i just cut then centers out of the scalloped frames to create this card and then used the scallops as borders. And last i have a layout i made that incorporates a little bit of both - The paper green paper is from 3 little birds, the striped from French Couture and then a die cut bracket from French Couture. This layout is featured in the may issue of ScrapStreet - an ezine filled with lots of great inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back for more. Don't forget about the Mini Album Contest - you still have a few weeks to get your entries in!!

having fun with 3 little birds...

>> Tuesday, May 5, 2009

hello everyone...Nicole here!!

just wanted to share a few layouts i made using the Three Little Birds collection...

(i apologize for the scan here...i tried seventeen times, but i just cannot get that background to be 'white'!) i used the 'Faded Jeans' paper on this layout of my husband and daughter...and a bit of the 'Laugh' rub-ons just above the scalloped velvet over on the right. don't be afraid to chop up those rub-ons...sometimes all you need is a tidbit, and it stretches your dollar further in the meantime!
for this one, i used the 'So Sweet' paper as my base, a strip of the 'Faded Jeans' and one of the die-cuts from the 3 Little Birds collection. oh...and another snippet of rub-on, this time from the 'Accent' rub-on set. i painted a touch alongside the photo, so that my journaling would stand out...also distressed the edges of the 'So Sweet' paper for fun.

one of the best things about the Lily Bee lines is that they are completely versatile...no restrictions on a theme, and just waiting for you to think of different ways to use them up!
and just a reminder, please keep linking us to your Lily Bee layouts...we love to see creative ways that people are using them, and are always looking to feature someone on the Friday Faves posts.
so don't be shy, share your love for Lily Bee right here!!
