Christmas Town Give-Away!

Happy December!

So I've been listening to Christmas music for at least a month now! I'm so into the Christmas Spirit this year and hoping to get some holiday crafting in. We bought a new tree so now I have two and am attempting to decorate a "girly" tree just for me in my office. Seeing how I am spending much time designing for CHA, I thought it would be super inspiring.

My boys are still little but I've started a tradition with them the last two years. I take them to Hallmark and let them pick out an ornament. I love their ornaments and it's fun to see what my boys choose. We've got Thomas and Toy Story so far and am anxious to see what they will go for this year. We also do Christmas Pajamas which I know many of you do as well.

I would love to hear about some of your Christmas Traditions. Leave us a comment by this Friday December 3rd and we'll pick a winner to win our Christmas Town Collection.

We have the same appetizers (shrimp dip for one!) every Christmas Eve. We also get a new ornament each year for every family member. My tree is chocked full after 39 years! I would love to win this paper. I LOVE Christmas scrapbooking!!

We head out to the forest each year and cut down our own Christmas tree. After we've found the perfect charlie brown tree we visit with Santa and Smokey the Bear and enjoy some hot chocolate.

Unknown December 1, 2010 at 8:51 AM

On Christmas Eve morning we all get together for breakfast, egg nog, Christmas carols ad stories. It is my favorite day of the year. Later, before midnight mass we each open one gift!!

connie December 1, 2010 at 8:56 AM

I buy all the grandkids Christmas PJ's. I really like the ornament idea. May have to add that one this year.

Most of our Christmas traditions were for when my kids were younger. Now that they're teenagers, we need to develop new ones. I'm making notes on the ones suggested here. thanks.

Aubree December 1, 2010 at 9:24 AM

my favorite tradition is picking out our tree each year! I love walking the lot with the kids and warming up with hot cocoa after.

Stephanie Feltus December 1, 2010 at 9:26 AM

My favorite tradition is going to Starbucks to get a yummy Christmas beverage, and then driving around looking at light displays around town. I look forward to it every year!

Such lovely paper!!

Our traditions have really grown in the last few years. One of my favorite is our cookie baking day. We have 4 generations of family that come together for a day of fun, cooking and candy making, eating... putting together gingerbread houses... it's a fabulous day!

Thanks!

I lvoe your ornament idea! That is going to be very special for them as they grow older! Yes, we have our Chrismtas eve jammies. Even though our son is 21, that's the tradition here!

JJ Sobey December 1, 2010 at 9:51 AM

New Christmas PJ's is a big one around here. This year we're doing our first advent calendar with this kids, and I'm looking forward to this being a new tradition for us.

cindy December 1, 2010 at 9:53 AM

Each year we drive around our neighborhood listening to christmas music searching for decorated houses. Let me tell you this year my neighbors are happy to oblige.

Rhonda Van Ginkel December 1, 2010 at 9:55 AM

I have gotten an ornament for myself each year at Hallmark that captures the biggest part of what I want to remember for that year.

I now do this for my sweet baby boys too and can't wait to have them help pick out their ornaments this year!!! It's so moving every year when we trim the tree!

just me and z December 1, 2010 at 9:57 AM

Every year on Thanksgiving eve, we go look at Christmas lights at our nearby park. For Christmas, my family started a tradition back in like 1995 where everyone makes a dish, and brings copies of the recipes for everyone in the family. We started our own "Family Cookbook" and I look forward to it each year. It is so neat to see what everyone has made over the years. My recipes won't fit in my album anymore!
Thanks for the chance to win!

Jennifer Roach December 1, 2010 at 9:59 AM

We have several traditions in our family: Christmas eve appetizer dinner, new ornament each year for the tree and opening gifts one at a time.

Ania December 1, 2010 at 10:02 AM

Such a lovely collection! :) I usually bake lots and lots of cookies....this year we'll have to wait with getting started until I'm done with my exam though, and the kids are excited for me to get done :)

There are a few traditions that I am wanting to do this year. The two main ones thatt I want to do for sure are things I did with my mom when I was litte, and that I can now do with my own daughter. We would always do handmade Christmas cards every year, and I really want to keep this alive in my family as they are such wonderful things to look back on. And the other, which I know my daughter Creedence will really enjoy, is baking Christmas bread. This is a recipe that has been in my family for a long time, and is really special to me to make. My most favorite Christmas memories involve these two traditions. Thanks so much for a chance to win the giveaway!! Happy Holidays!

Random Acts of Krafting December 1, 2010 at 10:24 AM

We are starting a new tradition this year. We are staying home on December 25th, and all of us will be participating in cooking the meal. We will visit friends and families on the 24th, and the 26th though.
This is one great kit, I have been trying to get my hands on it here in Canada.
Hugs

Hubby and I have a very romantic Christmas Eve dinner of fondue in front of the fireplace, lights low, TV on a good Christmas movie, chatting and eating and enjoying a little bit of quiet. Very cool~

Frances December 1, 2010 at 11:26 AM

We have a bunch, but my favorite is decorating the house. We make homemade hot chocolate, play Christmas music, and let the kids go wild!! It's the best!

Deanne December 1, 2010 at 11:30 AM

well..we have several but one of my favorites is that every year we string popcorn and cranberries for the tree..

PinkPug,INK. December 1, 2010 at 11:37 AM

One of my favorites is watching Christmas movies while drinking peppermint hot chocolate with my family. :)

Wanda December 1, 2010 at 11:40 AM

Our traditions are similar to yours: ornaments(they are 15 and 10) so our tree is mostly their ornaments. The pjs as well. Baking cookies and decorating gingerbred houses. We tried to cook different foods everyyear for Christmas dinner and this year we are volunteer to help serve food in a shelter.
best regards,
Wanda

We have LOTS of Christmas traditions...the most quirky is that each person picks a favorite food and that will make up our Christmas dinner (think baked mac & cheese, bbq meatballs, nachos, popcorn shrimp, etc). Crazy and unbalanced, but fun!

D December 1, 2010 at 11:57 AM

Let's see, some of our Christmas traditions include an advent calendar, making a paper chain to countdown to Christmas, making ornaments, making lots and LOTS of homemade sugar cookies, driving around and seeing lights, and of course decorating the tree with Christmas music in the background. Love this month!!!

Erica Hettwer December 1, 2010 at 12:33 PM

The kids and I love to lay down under the Christmas tree with the tree light on and the rest of the lights off. It's so peaceful and magical. The kids love it!

Caroline December 1, 2010 at 2:08 PM

My favorite tradition is our Christmas baking. We bake a bunch of different goodies, wrap them up and deliver to friends. Now that my kids our getting older, they can help us bake and choose who we want to deliver goodies to.

Gypsy Lady December 1, 2010 at 2:31 PM

Our decorations never come out before December 1st, but on that day there's a mad flurry of activity as we all dive into the Christmas boxes! This is usually the day we watch Holiday Inn as well...we LOVE that movie!

cPOINTe December 1, 2010 at 2:41 PM

We put the kids in their jammies a little early on a random dec. night and after they're in their beds, we tell them it's Christmas light night! We load them up in the car and drive around looking at Christmas lights. After a while, we end up at our favorite aunt's house for a cup of hot chocolate! Then we come home and tuck them in to bed for real!

Mandy Hornbuckle December 1, 2010 at 2:41 PM

We decorate our house while watching Elf every year. It's fabulous.

I've been having a great time learning my husband's family traditions of making lefse, flatbread and krumkake-- delicious Norwegian treats for the holidays. I've been trying to capture them in my scrapbooks, too!

Cynthia Baldwin December 1, 2010 at 8:33 PM

Every year, my kids love moving our Christmas countdowns/Advent calendars to reach Dec. 25...that includes moving the three wise men closer and closer to our manger for our nativity set. We also make and deliver baked goods to our neighbors in Dec., and on Christmas day, we stay in our PJ's as late as possible. Love it!

Melissa December 1, 2010 at 8:49 PM

Christmas Eve is filled with a light dinner and church. We get home late and head to bed. Even at the age of 33 I still like to pretend I believe in Santa and that he'll stop by our house. Christmas morning we get up for a big breakfast, open presents, enjoy each others company and then have a yummy ham dinner. All leading up to the holiday we shop, decorate the house, bake our "famous" rolled sugar cookies and go to many holiday functions and dinners. LOVE this time of year!!!

Brittney December 1, 2010 at 9:27 PM

We purchase an ornament every December in Banff, Alberta at their amazing Christmas store. It's a bit pricey, so we only buy one, but that's what makes it special!

Laura Stewart December 1, 2010 at 10:22 PM

I love Christmas Eve at Grandma's!

Anonymous,  December 1, 2010 at 10:24 PM

Our tradition is to have Shepherd's Pie for dinner on Christmas Eve! Thanks!

Amy Heller December 2, 2010 at 12:37 PM

We have lots of little traditions that we've created, but one that I love to do for my kids, is that every year I buy them a pewter ornament and have their names and years engraved on them. When they grow up they'll each have many timeless ornaments that will be perfect on any tree. :) My tradition for my husband and me is watching Christmas Vacation - never gets old! LOL

*Monica B* December 2, 2010 at 1:30 PM

When I was little, I never knew what to get my dad for Christmas so I would get him a coffee mug (I knew he liked coffee!). It became a pattern, but the funny thing is that, although everyone else in my family caught on to this pattern I didn’t. It became a huge joke. To this day, I still get my dad a new coffee mug for Christmas every year =)

BethW December 2, 2010 at 3:24 PM
