New Beginnings.......

>> Monday, March 1, 2010

hey Lily Bee readers!  This month is going to be all about New Beginnings!  This could mean a variety of different things to everyone - like the new Design Team (which the call ends TODAY)! That will be a great new beginning for Lily Bee Designs.  It could mean the new buds of Spring - i'm sure we are all waiting for this to happen! right!
It could mean a new addition to your family, whether your adopting, just had a new baby or even bought a puppy - this would definatley be a new beginning for your family.(this is my nephew Hudson)
For me - looking through all of my pictures, i started with Spring, went to babies and i couldn't help but going back to these pictures of my nephew Bridger.  After he turned one my mom and I noticed every time we were around him - he was always upset about something.  He didn't talk at all, he always put his hands a certain way - pinky pointed outward, he wouldn't connect with anyone (but mommy and daddy), i had watched him a few times and was always very nervous too, because he would never make eye contact with me and couldn't communicate well.  He would watch a 2 hour movie barely blinking an eye - always the SAME movie : ).

Finally my mom decided to bring up Autism to Karie (my sister).  In the beginning, they didn't want to believe it, but as time went on....they tried to learn more, the became very active in changing his diet to see what things caused him to be better or worse, they put him in an early intervention pre-school and over time we have all learned to know what upsets him and what doesn't - what he can eat and what he can't.  He still doesn't talk and just turned 3 in January but has made great strides, Karie and her husband do an amazing job at taking care of his needs and making his little world just the way he likes it.  Sorry for the rambling - but the New Beginning for me - was looking at these pictures and seeing his smile and knowing that he just wanted to be understood!  So  - i hope this month there are many new beginnings for you and your families - and if you decide to scrap about them - share them with us!!

Here is a layout by Lori Gentile - she said this was her son's first time sledding in the snow - and it was a new beginning for them because they plan on doing it alot more often!  Look how well the Hello Sunshine line works for Winter too!!
Thanks for stopping by - and come back for more great inspiration through out the month on New Beginnings!

Wonderful inspiration! Thanks. New beginnings.... I can't wait till spring. I saw the first bulbs this morning being yellow and purple. So little, so full of a new beginning of spring.

Very touching post. My grandson Jeromy will be 5 in June and we went through almost the exact same thing. This time last year was when he began speaking, today he can comminucate and he does talk, he has a ways to go but finally he does have language, and what a difference that makes. We are hoping to mainstream him into kindergarten in the fall with a little help. Just remember that you are your childs advocate, or your sister anyway, find out what he is intitled to and fight for it. Its unfortunate that it has to be that way, that you have to fight for what he needs, but thats the way of things these days. They are definately special little people and will continue to light up your life.

Thank you for sharing your family's story, about Bridger, Brenda. You are so right about new beginnings - they mean such a variety of things to everyone, but we all have them, and they are definitely worth documenting! Thanks for that inspiration!

My son was facing the diagnosis of autism for a while and while it was heartbreaking for us knowing life would be more challenging for him {seriously, it's already hard enough!} it was some comfort to have a name for it and to know we weren't alone. He's been receiving services from Early Intervention for 6 months and we've already seen amazing improvements. His speech still isn't where it should be and we're pretty sure we've ruled out autism but I strongly encourage your sister to use every avenue available as soon as they can. The earlier these babies get as much help as possible the better the future is for them. It sounds like your nephew is one lucky little man to have so many people who love him and are watching out for him. Hugs!
