Heads Over Heels In Love Cards

Hi Everyone, Piradee here today to share some cards that I created using the gorgeous Heads Over Heels collection and just in time for Valentine's Day. First is this simple card I made using the mix cardstock sticker as the focal point and decked out with some heart punch outs from the various pattern papers...

Then for my second card, I couldn't resist getting out my sewing machine to stitch the pockets where I added a few love tags and then using another sticker element for the finishing touches.

And lastly is this fun card created using mini clothes pins and more mix cardstock stickers (the banners this time) and with my favorite product - the ABC stickers!

Paper Hearts

Just like most of you, Pinterest is full of inspiration. I have been admiring these cute little hearts. They are so simple and super easy to make.

To create them in layers, Cut an even number of strips 3/4" x 4" and 3/4" x 3 1/2".

Layer together both sizes, smaller strip on the outside and larger strip on the inside. Place a favorite piece of ribbon or twine between both larger pieces (in the middle).

Staple the bottom end to hold all the pieces together and loop the smaller, outside strip into a heart and adhere the opposite end and repeat with larger loop, making sure it is flush with the smaller looped heart.

Or fold both large and small strips together at the opposite end and staple both ends together.

Pretty simple. I made a bunch of them & have them hanging around in bunch of branches in our family room & some hanging from our mantel. Love these & would so fun to make with your kids, too.

Pink and Black

Being the mother of a boy, I take advantage of any opportunity to scrap in pink. So when my sister took this photo of me frocked up before a night out for dinner, how could I resist using a good serve of pink? The blacks and greys in the layout balance out the dominating pink background. The dash of blue just gives some contrast and zing.

An interesting fact (which is in the journalling around the photo mat) is that until recently it had been over 10 years since I had worn a dress.

I have used mainly Head over Heals on this layout - but I did include the black polka dot and the steel blue from the halloween/fall range, Harvest Market! I love how they just all work together perfectly.

The butterflies have been punched from the same pink paper as the background but I have used the reverse side which is a fine ledger style print. These coordinating dot/ledger prints that came with the recent releases are so useful. I love a patterned paper background and the polka dot print is a favorite for me.

Again I have utilized the ABC stickers to form part of my title, which allows me to have a longer and more meaningful title that if I had only used large letters.

Happy Monday! I can't believe we are already in mid-January! Time is flying and not in a bad way. We are heading towards CHA and we are all busy around here. Happily busy, that is. We will start unveiling our new lines next week, and you'll definitely want to come back for that!

First I printed a strip of photos about 2.5 inches high to span across my page. Then I went to work cutting various sized circles from the patterned papers. Mine range from 4.5" down to .75" but feel free to make them whatever size you want. I layered two of my circles with die cut images cut from black cardstock:

When I'm printing my journaling directly on my background cardstock, I like to lay out the page elements on the cardstock first (without adhering anything) and roughly determine where my journaling will go and how much space I have to work with. Then I set up a text box to fit that size and print my journaling out.

After arranging and adhering my photo strip and circles, I added a ttiny itle from ABC Stickers and embellished the page with a few sparkly pearls and rhinestones.

So celebrate the fact that it's finally Friday and do a little scrapping - we'd love to see what you create!

Love Notes

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's the perfect time to start thinking about love notes. I've created a couple to share with you today using the Lily Bee Head Over Heels Tiny Tablet and Mixed Cardstock Stickers. I love how these little pads are perfectly scaled for card designs and you get 3 sheets of each of the 12 designs in each pad.

My first note is really a very clean and simple design. It's also perfect for using up scraps. I love using stickers by sometimes I don't want to adhere them directly to my project but pop them up a little. To do this, just adhere them to cardstock and then cut them out. Dimensional foam adhesives are perfect for making the layer pop out.

This next card uses some of the darker patterns for a more masculine valentine. A very balanced and symmetrical design makes combining lots of patterns simple and easy on the eye.

Both these cards are 4 1/4" square. Wouldn't it be fun to make a set to giveaway or make 14 and give away one each day leading up to Valentine's?

Letters and Grids

Happy Wednesday Lily Bee friends! It's Jenni here today to share a layout and a few tips in lettering and grids.

When making this layout, I knew I wanted to include Lily Bee's fabulous ABC stickers in the title of the page. Knowing that I wanted the words to align on the right side of the page, I needed a game plan for proper spacing of the ABC stickers.

In order to accomplish this, I first wrote out the phrase "I never dreamed it could get better than this" on a piece of paper (I don't know about you but my brain can't spell words backwards very well!). I then started with the last letter and the last word and worked backwards. I decided to stagger the phrase and include a tag in the white space for journaling.

When I orginally created this grid it was just the bottom layer of circles (from a 1 1/2" circle punch) from various papers from the Memorandum and Head over Heels 6x6 Tiny Tablets. I felt that it looked a little plain and needed something extra. Whenever this happens I usually tend to add more layers for dimension and interest. So I added a second layer of circle punches and used a pop dot to adhere the circles.

I still felt like the grid needed something else, so I added little embellishments to each circle. I spaced each series of embellishments so that it was in groups of three, and creating a triangle. For instance the hearts create a triangle, as do the butterflies, buttons, and word sentiments.

Mixed Media Heart Canvas

While looking at Pinterest at this project, I thought I would put my own little spin on and make a canvas using masking. I used a small 6x6 canvas and covered it with small 1x1 inch squares from the Lily Bee Head Over Heels 6x6 Paper Pad.

After I mod-podged them down using glitter mod-podge, I used my Cricut to cut out a large heart. Using removable Glue Dots, I attached it to the canvas and painted over the front with white paint. You can faintly see the squares under the white paint. A really light coat, even slightly watered down, is what I would suggest.

This is what you see when you pull off the heart. I also used bubble wrap and black ink to distress the corners a bit. I did that while the heart mask was still on the canvas.

I didn't like the white edges of the canvas so I used decorative tape (two layers deep) to finish the edges.

I also didn't like that the heart wasn't well-defined, so I put the heart back on and and used a thin black sharpie to outline it. I also doodled a bit on parts of the heart. Finally I added the words and the sticker to finish it off. I mod-podged a few more times to set everything.

A bit of This & That...

Happy New Year everyone! My turn to share a layout today and I have done one on my son Archie. I am a HUGE Beatles fan so when I was shopping and saw this Yellow Submarine t-shirt I just couldn't resist. Archie loves it too, to the point where it is difficult to persuade him to take it off! He wanted me to take some pictures of him wearing it and when I downloaded them I was struck by how similar to Paul McCartney he looked - think the cover of Abbey Road, long pants, bare feet, floppy hair - but thankfully without the cigarette.

I chose a real mix of products for this layout - that is what makes using Lily Bee so easy - all the lines go together beautifully.

I am a sucker for polka dot paper and Linens from the This & That range is one of my all time favourites. I thought it might be fun to make even more of a feature of the dots by filling some of them in with string.

Of course Archie saw me doing this layout and it has now ended up in his room!

Happy Valentine's? What?

I walked into Joann's a couple of weeks before Christmas, and they already had an entire aisle of Valentine's Day stuff out. What the heck? Yeah. I even had a chat with one of the people who worked there, who reminded me that their Christmas stuff is usually out by July. Oy.

I was a little peeved back then because I really wanted some decorations for my house, and couldn't find any. But now that holidays are behind us, I think we can kind of sort of start thinking Valentine's, no? Just a little? Because I tend to be caught off guard by that holiday. It's usually the day of, when I go, " Really? Ayi!" So if I start by making a few cards per week right now...

Enter Cindy Liebel's super duper popular Christmas Ornaments post. Uhm, how popular is that post, you say? It's THE MOST popular post we have on this blog. And I can totally see why. The ornaments are so pretty AND easy to make. Lisa Day used this same technique and created a layout by punching out Christmas trees. Love the look!

Here is my card:

Cute, right? (Please say "yes!") And super simple. To create the circular ones, I punched with a scalloped circle, and used the Head Over Heels stickers on one of the circles (for full step-by-step instructions, click here.) Actually, all the papers I used were from the Head Over Heels 6"x6" Tiny Tablet. Head Over Heels = perfect for Valentine's.

I only used 5 punched out shapes to make a slightly less bulky pop-up shape. Stick them on a premade card with some twine behind, and presto, card is done!

So simple and fun, even I can make a whole set before Valentine's is here.

2012 Mini Album Tutorial

Happy New Year everyone. It's Ronda today with a step by step detailing this adorable mini album for the new year. This quick & easy mini could be used for multiple projects such as a goal journal, a One Little Word album, a monthly glance at your year, etc. So many possibilities in one sweet little album.

Supplies:
a variety of Lily Bee patterned papers
Lily Bee Alphabets
Lily Bee Happily Lost Stamps
two 4 x 6 Chipboard pieces
scoring tool
Paint
Binder Rings
Border Punch
hole punch
Sewing Machine

First you need to cut two pieces of 4 x 6 inch chipboard pieces to create your cover. You can usually purchase these pieces fairly cheaply from your local scrapbook stores. I usually have a stack on hand so i can create my own covers.

Choose your favorite Lily Bee Patterned paper for the cover. Here i am using This & That Milk Bottle. I just love that blue! Adhere to the front of the chipboard, gluing in the center of the paper. Why you ask? Well i knew i wanted to stitch around the edges of the chipboard so i didn't want my needle hitting the adhesive & getting sticky.

I added a thin paint layer around the edges of the album to give it some texture. I love that it is quick & a bit rough. Next i stitched around the edges of the cover. Yes you can stitch through chipboard. Just go nice & slow, using a long stitch making sure your tension isn't too tight.

Next i added a chipboard accent piece. I painted the top of the butterfly using the same paint i used around the album cover. Next i added a bit of clear glue & some German glass glitter. You could also use regular glitter as well.

Once i added the butterfly to the album i decided the solid orange background wasn't popping enough for me so i changed it up with strips of leftover patterned papers. I added two green stick pins for the antennae which added that pop of color i needed.

I grabbed my Happily Lost Banner Stamp and stamped it on a piece of neutral patterned paper. I went with the same color palette as the paint. This way my title could really stand out.

This album is titled Reflections. In order to get the position right on the banner, i first wrote out my word and found the center letter. I work out from there to fill in the rest of the letters. Sometimes i add the first letter so i know how much room i have. You also have to remember you may have to adjust your "center" letter depending on the font size of the letters.

Next choose a variety of coordinating Lily Bee Papers. I have a fun bright palette of colors choosing warm greens, yellows, pinks, oranges, blues, and a hint of black. They make me happy! You will need twelve 4 x 12 sheets of patterned paper plus one 4 x 6 piece. These are going to be the base of your interior pages.

These 4 x 12 pages become pocket pages similar to the So Blessed Lily bee album i did in 2010. Score your twelve 4 x 12 pages at 2 inches and at 6 inches. Fold the page in half at the 6 inch score mark. Fold the 2 inch score mark down & punch the edge with your favorite border punch.

You can adhere the two sides down and create the pocket. I like to stitch mine down by stitching all around the edges of the page. Now you have 12 pockets for your mini album, one for each month if you so choose.

I have created these journal inserts for my pocket pages. You can download the pdf of the interior pocket journal cards from my blog. I am planning on using this to capture my month's at a glance. I will place a photo on one side of the page & the pocket page on the other side.

Because of the way i am doing my photos, i needed a cover page. Here i have two options for the interior cover for you. One uses the the journal card on the cover page to create consistency. The other makes use of the scraps of patterned paper. I gave you this option because you would need to print out an extra journal card to use it on the cover.

Here's the start of my interior pages. I plan on placing a collage of photos on the backside of the green paper, opposite of the January pocket that is a snapshot of my month. Like i said above, you can use this album for multiple projects.

Scrapbooking for fun!

Sometimes I need to scrapbook just for the fun of it. Sometimes even to poke a little bit of fun at myself!

I was going through my pictures yesterday and came across this rare shot that one of the kids must have taken. It's a common understanding in our house that I'm not much of a housekeeper. I try, but I could do a lot better! I thought it would be fun to put together a layout as proof that I have cleaned at least once. Even if it was almost 2 years ago!

I love love love the journaling cards. They work so well layering and as journaling blocks. I thought the "big news" one was extra fun for this page. And the cardstock stickers just add a lot more to the humor on this page!

I used rub on's from 2 older Lily Bee collections to add even more humor. Fun, no?!

Hi Everyone, Georgia here to answer some questions from the lovely Linda about myself and my scrap space:

1. Do you have a dedicated scrap space?

Um, sort of... Just under 5 years ago we moved into our dream home where we plan to stay until our kids move out. We spent many months thinking, planning and trying to cover every possible scenario to come up with a design which would suit us for the next 20 years. Six months after we moved in I started scrapping and it's been musical rooms ever since.

Last month when Linda first asked me to share some photos my space I was using the study...

which left my husband, who does quite a bit of work from home, in the games room in the noisiest part of the house. The kids are getting older now so we have decided to turn the playroom into a scrapbooking / homework room for the kids and I to share and my husband can have his study back!

This is the playroom at the moment, I'm really excited about getting it set up.

2. When do you scrap?

I'm almost exclusively a night scrapper. Normally a couple of times a week I'll sit down after the kids are in bed and scrap until the wee hours. If I'm lucky I can sometimes squeeze in a bit of scrap time on the weekends too.

3. Would you say you are a fast or slow scrapper?

Definitely slow. A single layout will take me around 4 or 5 hours to complete.

4. How do you organise your stash?

I sort all my paper by manufacturer and then by collection and my embellishments by type. I have this weird ability to remember not only which manufacturer and line each embellishment belongs to but also when and where I bought it. I'm pretty sure that and old song lyrics account for around 90% of my memory.

5. Do you listen to music while you scrap?

I can't scrap without music but I MUST have dead silence when I am journalling.

6. What is your dream travel destination?

I love to travel, pretty much anywhere will do - so long as I need my passport I'm happy!

7. What SuperHero power would you like to have?

What I really want is a cone of silence like they had on Get Smart. I have three gorgeous, beautiful, LOUD children so a few moments of quiet now and then would be lovely.

8. Favourite colour combo?

Probably yellow and navy blue - with black of course!

9. Perfect weekend?

Spent with family around the pool.

10. Favourite family picture?

Day 24 - A Holiday Wreath (plus a Sketch Winner!)

Hey there! Can you believe it is Christmas Eve? Insane, right? I'm suffering from a mix of elation, giddiness, and apprehension. The last because I haven't wrapped anything yet. I'm dreading the hours I'll be spending tonight. But it's all worth it in the end, right? I love this time spent with family, enjoying each other's company.

So here we are on the last day of Holiday Countdown. And today, I made a super easy wreath that can easily be adapted to other seasons and occasions.

It's basically a yarn-wrapped wreath with a patterned paper detail. Easy peasy. Wrapping the yarn around the foam wreath took me the longest. But I was watching a movie while doing it, so it was all good!

So here is what you will need:

Foam wreath (you can get it at any craft store in varying sizes, this one is 10")
Yarn in the colors of your choice (get the cheapest acrylic variety, not only is it super affordable, but you won't have to worry about moths eating it)
Little pompoms
Lily Bee Tiny Tablets
Glue (I used quick dry wet glue)
Scissors
and coffee if you are working on it early in the morning (like I did) or late at night (maybe a cup of decaf then?)

The yarn wrapping part is super duper easy. I start with a little wet glue (quick dry is best), and stick a portion of the yarn to the foam wreath. Once it's dry, I just start wrapping it round and round and round, changing colors as needed. Once I reach the end, I apply more glue, hold the end bit of the yarn a bit, and it's done. This would be a super project to do with kids!

Then it starts the even more fun part! Choosing what you'll create with paper to decorate the wreath. I choose a little paper bird. I found this pattern online. It took only one sheet of our Tiny Tablet. One. I'm thinking I'll make a bunch of them and make an Easter wreath too!

Once the bird was done, I cut (freehand) two little holy leaves (out of another sheet of our Tiny Tablet), glued them to the bird's neck, and added three teeny pompoms.

To attach the bird to the wreath, I used white thread and put a stitch on top of the bird, and sewed the other end to the yarn.

Wrap a piece of ribbon around the whole wreath to hang, and wham, you are done!

Other ideas for decorating the wreath (in case you are not into birds), flowers, leaves, hearts, stars. The possibilities are endless!

Something I try to do every year is send Thank You's out right after the holidays, but that doesn't always happen! This year I'm making my cards ahead of time so I have no excuse!

I created a design that would be easy to replicate so I can create a handful at a time!

Day 22 - Joy Holiday Gift Bag

Are you counting down to the big day yet? Just three more sleeps till Christmas!

If you're not done your holiday wrapping yet, that's OK. There's still time and there's still time to create a quick holiday gift bag to wrap things up in as well.

I love wrapping with custom gift bags. First of all, gift bags are so easy to wrap with and they are very quick and easy to make. You can keep them super simple by just adhering some pretty patterned paper on the front of a kraft gift bag or you can add a little more pizazz by creating a fun holiday scene.

To create a scene, I always love to start with easy shapes. A house can be built with a square and a triangle but for this design, I've cut out some wavy snow banks and some triangle shapes evergreens. A star punch makes for a super quick tree topper. And I seriously love how all the tiny dots on the Jingle line papers looks like a pretty snowfall.

When you're working with numerous papers to create a scene, I like to adhere them to some coordinating scrap paper. By building the scene on the paper, you can get everything just right and then adhere the final piece to the front of the gift bag. This also lets you add some stitching details if you wish to.

The Lily Bee ABC Stickers are perfect for adding in a little holiday cheer sentiment.

Finally, top off your bag with some ribbon and embellishments you have on hand.

Day 21 - Holiday Traditions Layout

Hello Everyone. I hope you have been enjoying our 24 days of inspiration. The design team has some really fantastic creations for you & you still have a few more days left! Today i am showing you some details of a layout i used to capture & record some of our Christmas traditions.

This layout was created using the Jingle line to capture one of our favorite traditions, baking cookies. These cookies are some of my favorite, gingerbread cookies with chocolate hugs in the center. The Jingle Index cards is an easy way to document our recipes. Are there certain recipes you make every year?

I knew i wanted to use the Jingle stamps on my layout, especially those trees. I stamped the tree in grey and trimmed it out. I then took some liquid glue, filled in the snowflake image and added German glass glitter to give it some sparkle. I also stamped grey snowflakes around the page using the naked chipboard as inspiration. I love the colors in the jingle line to complement my photos. The stickers with the baker's twine brought the right amount of colors to the layout.

So don't forget to document your traditions this season remembering to photograph the smallest events.

Day 20 - Cookie Cutter Ornaments

Hey everyone, Cindy here sharing a project that is completely inspired by Martha Stewart. There is a bundle of inspiration you can find on her website, such as these cookie cutter ornaments. I am all about creating simple, fast & easy crafty projects around the holidays, especially ornaments.

All you need is your favorite holiday paper, such as the Jingle Collection & super cheap cookie cutters. I've had these colorful cookie cutters for a long while & have been buying really nice cookie cutters lately & thought it would be fun to up cycle my old ones. They are super easy to create.

Punch a hole at the top of each cookie cutter using a hole punch. The cookie cutters I used are super thin, which made it easy to punch a hole.

Use the thicker side of the cookie cutter & trace the outside of cookie cutter onto pattern paper & hand-cut. Add glue around edges of cookie cutter & adhere to cut out. Use a craft knife or scissors to remove excess.

Thread both ends of thick rope or string through the holes of each cookie cutter & tie a knot at the end to secure. Embellish using chipboard accents, cardstock stickers & rub-ons.

I love how they turned out & look really nice on our Christmas tree. You can easily use your favorite photos & give as gifts to your love ones.

Day 19 Rosette Christmas Tree

In getting ready for Christmas and the festive celebrations, I’ve been putting up little decorations here and there and everywhere around our apartment which also includes these cute and super easy to create rosette Christmas trees.

All you need to create this little tree is some of the Jingle Collection Pattern Papers, the insides of the toilet paper rolls, glitter, star pins (or any other items that you might want to deck the tree with), scoring board (optional but super helpful) and a handy trimmer...

I first started out by cutting strips of the various pattern papers in different thicknesses – ranging from 0.75” to 1.5”. Then using the scoring board, I quickly created the creases that I needed for the rosette flowers...

Once I had the completed all the rosette flowers, I applied liquid glue on the edges and sprinkled some glitter on the sides. Then I lined up the three different sized rosette flowers and poked the star pin through the middle (you might also want to apply some glue in between the flowers to help keep everything together). Next, I started working on the bottom part of the tree and found that the toilet roll was just the right size that I needed. Therefore, I cut a piece of the roll and wrapped some pattern paper around it before gluing it onto the bottom most rosette flower; finishing off my little rosette Christmas tree.

Day 18: A Quick Layout

As the days fly by and the countdown to Christmas gets closer, I find there just isn't a lot of time for scrapping. I'm too busy wrapping gifts, shopping for those last-minute deals, and most importantly, spending time with family. But that doesn't mean I forgo creative time altogether - I just have to be more efficient at it!

For this page about Christmas joy, I selected six photos from the many that I've taken over the past few weeks. I didn't make this a big process - I just picked six horizontal shots that gave a good overview of some recent festivities. I printed them 2.75" x 1.75".

Day 17: Favorite Ornaments

Hi everyone- It's Jenni here welcoming you to Day 17! It's hard to believe how fast December is flying by!!!

One of my very favorite Holiday traditions is pulling out the box of ornaments from our storage room. Our Christmas tree is very eclectic-- many mix matched ornaments that represent an event, milestone, travel destination, or memory. It's almost as if each ornament has a story of it's own and I love nothing more than pulling out each and every ornament and "revisiting" those stories. In the end our tree hangs with ornaments that tell many stories and memories-- and it truly makes my heart happy.

I thought today I would share with you a simple layout I made that helps me tell the "story" of our ornaments. It will be great to look back at this throughout the year!! The front shows 11 ornament photos that are punched with 2" square punch and placed in a grid. I used the Jingle ABC stickers to number the ornaments. Instead of adhering the photos directly to the kraft cardstock, I actually trimmed a regular office supply file folder down to an 8.5" x 6.5" file and placed the photos on the front of the file folder.

I then covered the interior portion of the file folder with papers from the Memorandum line. This gave me plenty of room to journal the background and stories of each ornament. I LOVE that I have this written down and it can be passed down for a long time.

I actually photographed the ornaments last Christmas, and I am SO glad I did, because one of my favorite ones broke as I took down the tree last year. I was heartbroken, but so thankful I at least have a photo memory of the ornament and now the story behind it written down.

I know you are super-busy right now, but this is just a friendly reminder to take photos of your ornaments on the tree! This is a project you can complete well after Christmas and enjoy throughout the whole year.

Day 16: Gift Wrapping

Hi, Katja here with another Christmas project for you. Only 9 days to go until Christmas Day, can you believe it? My kids finished school today for the summer which is another reminder that Christmas is very close. Yes, in Australia we have summer now, although you wouldn't know it at the moment with temperatures barely over 20 degrees here in Sydney. I suppose if we had 40 degrees we would also be complaining :)

I like to wrap my presents with some not so traditional wrapping papers sometimes. What better to use than the beautiful papers from the 'Jingle' collection, dress it up with some Origami folded 'Jingle' papers (shown to me by my 10 year old daughter!) and some of the 'Jingle' stickers and you have a beautifully wrapped present. Now you are wondering what's inside?...'The Smurfs' books. My daughter wants to be a Smurfette, what can I say?

Day 15: Dear Santa...

Hi everyone, Georgia here with another Christmas project for you - using the Memorandum line! I thought it might be fun to record the kids' wish lists for this year, unfortunately the ones they wrote for me today were nothing like the ones I had them write in November - yikes!

I went to grab some ledger paper from Memorandum for a background to tie in with the lines on our Dear Santa chalkboard but as I was looking through my stash I realised the range would be perfect for the whole layout.

The business letter embellishments lent themselves to the theme of my page beautifully. As well as using a lot of the cardstock stickers I had the kids each write their list on a journal card and then made a little pocket to slip the cards into.

I hope I've managed to give you a little bit of inspiration although the bad news is if you have been putting off your Christmas projects because you don't have any Christmas product, you now officially have no excuse!!

Day 12: Holiday Place Cards

Hey there! Hope you having a great time with our Holiday Countdown. Looking at these gorgeous projects has gotten me in a very holiday-y mood. And I'm usually grinchy until right before Christmas. :)

When I host a more, formal sit down dinner (I'm using formal very loosely here. I haven't been formal since high school prom, and that was eons ago!) I like to have place cards. You know the rule about not having couples sitting together, and doing a mixed boy-girl-boy-girl placement? I like that. Sorry, Couples Who Like To Sit Together! But it's just a better party if we mix it up a bit, and everyone is talking to everyone. That's when those place cards come in handy. Well, there are those people who sneak in the dining room and switch seating cards. You know who you are!

I usually just do a white card folded in half, but since it's holiday time, I decided to make a mini wreath with rolled paper. You've seen them everywhere, usually slightly bigger on a wall. The little version is really fast to make and it doesn't take a lot of paper.

What you'll need:

Lily Bee 6x6 mini paper pad (I used a combo of the Jingle, Memorandum, and This & That pads)
quick-drying wet glue
pop up dots
two-inch circle punch (mine is scalloped)
1.5-inch circle punch
tree punch (or other shape)
stamping ink
pen
glitter
paper cutter
scissors

How to:

Cut 4 sheets of the mini pad into quarters (the squares will be 3"x3").
Roll each piece into a cone and glue the edge to hold its shape.
Cut a 4" circle (it doesn't have to be perfect) to use as a base. Cover it with glue and start to stick the cones to it.
Punch one 2" circle and one 1.5" circle. Glitter the edges. Punch a tree shape, add an initial or name, ink edges, layer with pop up dots. Stick it to the center of the wreath.
Add glue to the edge of each cone and sprinkle lots of glitter.
You are done!

By the way, I never ever use glitter on my projects. But this was way fun! Never mind my entire work area is covered, and my kids went to school today covered in shiny sparkley bits. I'm calling it holiday spirit.

Day 11: Holiday Gift Tags

Hi Lily Bee friends! It's Jenni here today with a few quick ideas for making gift tags for your holiday gifts this season.

If you are anything like me, you may be in the middle of many different holiday craft projects and have scraps galore. Well, how about using some of those extra small pieces of paper and making gift tags? I found that using the Jingle 6x6 Tiny Tablet was perfect for this project!

I used Kraft tags by Ranger, but you can find tags like this at your local office supply store. It's great to have a stack of these around for such things and they also are wonderful for scrapbook layouts! I then used various scraps from my Jingle 6x6 paper pad, Jingle cardstock stickers, ABC letters, and journaling cards and went to town.

I added a few extra items such as stickpins, border punches, ribbon, and twine. I really enjoyed using the Jingle stamp collection as well. I paired it with silver ink from American Crafts to create the snowflakes in the tag below.

This last tag was the quickest to make, but it might be my favorite! I took three different square punches to create a stack of presents-- so fun! It would be easy to repeat these designs with different Jingle pattern papers to create a handmade, uniform look underneath your tree.

Day 10 - Scrapping decorating the tree

Hi! Kim here again to share with you another Christmas layout. This time I chose to scrap about decorating the tree. Again, I have taken a slightly different slant on the topic and have not actually included a picture of the tree at all. Instead I used these photos of my son from several years ago helping me to pick out the ornaments to add to the tree.

I think he must have thought he was the tree the way he was holding it on his head! That was what prompted the title "It's meant to go on the tree mate", which also forms my journalling. The ABC letter stickers are just perfect for making a long title that doubles as journalling.

The photos are far from perfect, but he was just so uber cute at that age how could I resist using them? So I simply printed them smaller so the poor quality was not so much of an issue.

I have also used the banner stickers from the Mixed Cardstock stickers. I love the banner stickers and I think they add the perfect finishing touch to a layout.

I have sprayed some mist across the green background paper to add a little extra interest.

Day 9 - Teacher's Holiday GIft

I always to love to spoil my kid's teachers this time of year with some sweet treats and a gift card to their favorite place, but being a scrapbooker, I can't just give a plain old gift card! So I've come up with an easy gift card holder that you can attach to a mug, a plant, a plate of cookies, or whatever you might want to give your favorite teacher!

Here's a step-by-step to create these card holders:

1. Cut a strip of patterned paper 2.75" x 6.25". Score at the 4" line and fold.

2. Cut another piece of paper to 2.75" x 4" and adhere it behind the flap you just folded. (Technically, this step isn't necessary if you're using 2-sided patterned paper, but I like to add the extra layer of paper to give the holder a bit more weight.)

3. Stitch around all four sides of the card which will create a pocket from the folded flap.

4. Round the top corners of your card holder. Then use a die-cut machine or punch to make snowflakes to adorn your card holders. Christmas trees, stars, or snowmen would also be cute!

5. Layer your die-cut shape with a sticker on the non-pocket side of your card. I adhered mine using foam adhesive to give it some dimension.

6. Punch a hole in the top edge, add some twine, and slide your gift card into the pocket!

7. Attach your tag to any assortment of small gifts - a coffee mug, a stack of notepads, or a bundle of new pens. And wish your teacher a very happy holiday!

Day 8: A Do-It-Yourself Christmas Tree

I am constantly inspired by all that I see on Pinterest, and when I saw this Christmas tree made from recycled wood, I knew I could put my own spin on it using the gorgeous Jingle collection.

Here is what I made.

When I showed the project to my husband, he thought the cedar shims he had in the basement would be perfect. Sure enough, 5 minutes later he had snapped the pieces into the shape of a tree.

First I sprayed each piece of wood with Glimmer Mist, in essence "staining" each piece. As it dried I cut strips of paper to fit each piece and inked the edges with chalk ink. Then using Glitter Mod Podge (AKA my newest obsession), I attached each piece to the wood. Finally I used Elmer's Wood Glue to attach the pieces to one center wooden piece.

Here is a view from the back. I am going to hang it using one of those 3-M strips. It's super light!

Here are a few close-ups:

See how shimmery the Mod Podge is? I covered this chipboard piece with patterned paper.

I liked the rough edges of the wood, so I tore the end of the paper to match the feel of the rough wood.

Day 7 - Vintage Christmas Banner

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Have you been following all the wonderful festive projects each day here on the Lily Bee Blog? It's Julia here, with another fun and holiday project to inspire you.

I love creating banners to decorate my home and the beautiful soft and subtly distressed papers of the Jingle line inspired this vintage style holiday banner. I've strung it across a black painted dresser that I use as a sideboard for a festive look this holiday season.

I started out by creating each triangle pennant from some chipboard. Each triangle measures 4.5" across by 6" deep which is a great size for flexibility. I've used the 12x12 papers but this project will also work using the smaller scaled Tiny Tablets.

After covering each chipboard piece with patterned paper, I stitched around the edges for a little extra detail. Around the bottom edges I've adhered some ruffled lace to add to the vintage look.

To create some fun embellishments for each pennant, I've combined Jingle Index Cards and created sweet little rosettes using patterned paper and the Jingle stickers. If you're looking for greater detail, most of these photos can be clicked on to enlarge them.

After each pennant is created, punch a hole on the top corners of each triangle with a hole punch.

String each pennant together using some ribbon or hem tape.

Decorate your home with your finished banner and enjoy!

Hey there Lily Bee fans, Cindy here. Today, I want to share my gift bows project with you. I love to dress up a gift box for any occasion & this year, I plan on dressing up a few of the kids Christmas gifts with handmade gift bows using the wonderful Jingle Collection.

To create your gift bow(s), simply trim nine strips of pattern paper that measure 1/2" or 3/4"; three 10", three 9", two 8" & one 5".

For each strip (except 5" strip), create a loop from each end, stapling together in the center.

Layer & adhere each looped striped using glue gun from bottom up, largest to smallest.

Fold & staple 5" strip, adhere using hot glue to center of bow.

Adorn center of bows with dimensional embellishments such as Lily Bee's Christmas Town Chipboard Stickers.

The strips of these bows are 1/2" wide & each one was adorned with Jingle Mixed Cardstock Stickers & twine.

Day 5 - Christmas Cards

Hello everyone, I hope by now you are getting a little bit into a festive spirit with all the beautiful projects shown here on the blog.
I like to share a couple of Christmas cards today that I've made with the 'Jingle' collection.

For this card I have used some dies to create the edge on the bottom of the cover and some glitter to make the edges of the '25' sparkle (hard to see in the photo, I'm sorry).
I have created some layers but otherwise like to keep my cards fairly clean and simple.

For my second card I have used some stamps and did some good old paper piecing:) all sparkled up with some glitter again. I love using glitter on my Christmas cards, it gives them a little bit of a festive feel. The white letters from the Jingle ABC Stickers are my new favorite!

Day 4 - Creating a Poinsettia Ornament

Hello Everyone. Hope you are enjoying these days of inspiration from the Lily Bee Design Team. It's my day to share with you a simple ornament you can make to adorn any tree.

I am using a 4 inch bottle cap as my base. Trace around your favorite Jingle patterned paper for the center of the cap. I am using the 6 x 6 Jingle Tiny Tablet since the patterns are smaller & the right feel for the bottle cap. I also cut a smaller circle of another Jingle patterned paper to layer on top of this one. I distressed the bottle cap with alcohol inks to give it that vintage feel.

Now let's build the poinsettia. This is one of my favorite Christmas flowers to make. I created this flower technique years ago & still love how it looks. First cut three 1 inch by 3 inch strips of patterned paper.

Fold the strips in half lengthwise and in half again from top to bottom. Using your scissors, cut in an arc from the outside to the fold part. This makes the point of the poinsettia.

Unfold the pattern paper and you get a “squashed” oval. Now fold this oval in half top down, you will see the backside of the pattern paper. Fold one side towards the top. Flip it over and do the other side.

Fold in half again. Now holding the center, run your finger under the pattern paper to pop it out.

I like to use a plain glue stick and glue the “leaves” together. Pinch & hold each leave together.

Next punch a 1.5 inch circle from the same patterned paper. Using a strong glue, adhere all three leaves done to the center of the circle. You can add a button center to your poinsettia to accent the flower.

Day 3 - Counting Down to Christmas

Hi Everyone, Piradee here today to share my december calendar that I created using the Jingle Collection. Instead of the 12x12 layout that I used to do, I wanted to do something a little different this time and went with a calendar card approach.

Each day has its own card that I've created using a mix of pattern papers, index cards and stickers from the Jingle collection and also some maya road chipboard goodies here and there. The idea is to display them in this mini library drawer as each of the day approaches...

And here's an overview of all the cards that I created... for some of them, I went with a large number chipboard for the date while on others, I used the number stickers from the ABC sticker sheet. Also on some of the cards, I left some areas blank so that I could add journaling details of that day...

And here are some close up details on some of the cards. For the chipboard numbers, I had colored them using an ink pad, lightly covering the chipboard and leaving some of the areas uncovered/inked.

Also using some of the clear stamps from the jingle collection... like the super cute santa and his reindeer image below...

And some pictures of the remaining cards and their details....

Day 2 - Scrapping your Christmas Card

Each year I put a real effort into getting a good photo of my son to make into the Christmas Card that we send to friends and family. So I like to make sure that I create a page using that photo - I am sure that this is something that most of us scrapbookers do!

When I decided to scrap the 2010 Christmas Card photo - I took a slightly different slant on it and actually used a photo that I had taken of the actual card made up with some Christmas decorations in the background.

I really like how this worked out and will probably make sure that I take a similar photo of this year's card (if I get around to making one - where is the time going???).

I love Lily Bee's Jingle range. It ended up being perfect to scrap this photo with even though the colours in the photo were quite bright.

Day 1 - Lucy's Christmas Memories

Welcome to Day One of our 24 days holiday inspiration where we'll have something new to inspire you every day from now until Christmas. Of course it wouldn't be Christmas without presents, so we're throwing in some give aways too - starting with one today!

To get the ball rolling, I've created a memory box for my eldest daughter Lucy. Lucy really loves writing in her diary at the moment so I thought it would be nice for her to have a special place to record her holiday memories.

This was so quick and easy to make I thought I'd include some step by step instructions for you too...

To start, I made a basic origami box (you can find some easy instructions here) and reinforced it by tucking in some thick card stock before folding each side.

Then I made three memory tags, each on a different theme, using the same basic design for each.

To start, cut a piece of black card stock 5" x 4", one piece of patterned paper 4" x 2.5" and another 8" x 4". Attach the small patterned paper to the card stock and fold the longer piece in half and place an eyelet in each.

Stick the 8" x 4" paper to the tag so the fold lines up with the end of the tag to make a flap. Cut another smaller piece of patterned paper and stick it under the flap for journalling.

Use stickers, alphas and index journalling tags to embellish the inside of your tag and include a spot for a photo to be attached later.

Embellish the front of your tag by layering paper, stickers and index cards. The Jingle sticker sheet has some great titles you could use to create the topic for each tag. For this one I've used some of the banner stickers to create Christmas trees to tie into the trimming the tree theme.

Thread some string around the tag and through the eyelets, tying them together to keep the flap closed. I've attached the string to the back of my tag with masking tape and then finished it off by placing another piece of card stock over the top.

and that is one tag done! I've made two more using the same steps, one for Lucy to record the presents she receives...

and one for photos of the day itself...

I've been scrapbooking for quite a few years now but recently I've been going back through my photos that were taken before my scrapbooking years. They are still in photo albums. Many will stay there but I've been going through and choosing some of my favorites to scrapbook into layouts. I love how timeless the Lily Bee Design lines are that make this easy to do.

I'm always looking for a new approach to keep my designs fresh. Usually I start with my patterned paper and go from there. For this layout, I decided to put my patterned paper on the back burner and start with some Lily Bee Design Index Cards and see where the design went from there.

By arranging a few of the index cards together into a collage I've created a frame of sorts for the sweet baby photo.

Little hearts stamped over misting add some soft subtle detail.

I did use one tiny piece of patterned paper to make a little heart embellishments by covering a piece of chipboard.

Keep it Simple.

If you are anything like me, you might be slightly freaking out that Thanksgiving is this week. Which means Christmas is soon to follow.

We are still trying to get through our Halloween candy! :)

Trying to make time or keep up with crafting and scrapbooking during the holidays can be a little tricky with all there is to accomplish! Let me share with you my secret: keep it simple.

My husband and I celebrated our ninth wedding anniversary last week-- it's obviously something I wanted to document. I usually spend quite a bit of time on my layouts, but with last week's schedule that wasn't an option-- so I challenged myself to keep it simple.

I used one photo and layered a variety of papers from the Head Over Heels collection (love!). I even used the (short) journaling and title from a recent blog post. Easy!

So the key is to keep it simple. And when you do, you will be amazed at how much you will get done even during this busy season!!

Little girls, like butterflies...

I just love using butterflies in my projects for my daughter. This canvas will find a special place in her room, she too loves butterflies:)

Here is a quick 'How to' on creating this canvas...

1. Paint your background, spray two different colors of mist and wipe over it while the mist is still wet to mix all the colors.
2. Cut out your background paper (I've used my Silhouette to cut the circle around the big butterfly).
3. Use some different papers for the strips down the right hand side (I've used a border punch for one of the strips and some ribbon)
4. Punch out lots of different butterflies and you are done!

I cannot tell a lie - I love the Memorandum range and it is usually my go to when I am given a choice to use whichever range I want. Today I am sharing my latest layout using Memorandum ...

I seriously don't think I will ever tire of Lily Bee's banner stickers! I stick a little piece of cardstock under the end of the sticker so that the end does not attach to the page and it gives more dimension to the layout.

And I love the way that the letter stickers are perfect for longer titles - particularly being able to curve them around shapes.

Scheduled fun - a step by step...

I'm sharing a step by step for one of my layouts today - I always love seeing how other scrappers go about putting their pages together, hopefully you guys do too! This is my layout, using a mix of the Memorandum and Head over Heels lines.

My youngest daughter had a playdate recently and she and one of the other girls spent an hour on the phone planning what they would do, down to the minute! They stuck to the schedule too - it was super cute and I couldn't resist turning it into a layout.

Instructions.

First up, cut out the two roses from the bottom of the Swoon patterned paper, leaving the title strip below. Layer this on top of some muslin and black card stock and machine stitch it all together messily.

Next cut down a piece of white card stock to 11 1/2" square, ink heavily around the edges and mat it onto a piece of black cardstock. Do the same for two pieces of patterned paper, one 8 1/2 x 9" and the other 6 1/2 x 4 1/2" and doodle a messy line around the edge of each with a black journalling pen. Cut some strips of Kraft cardstock and use the same border punch - and please ignore the orange semi-circles, they ended up in the bin somewhere around step 4 lol...

Once you're happy everything is in the right spot, mark the placement of each element with soft pencil marks then separate the papers and splatter them randomly with black ink.

Put the papers back together using the pencil marks as a guide and stick them down. Use foam tape between each piece making sure to leave enough room around the edges to slot things under later.

Now to build the first cluster. Cut out one of the smaller roses from Swoon, choose a couple of stickers and mat them onto black and use a die cut machine or punch to make leaves out of patterned paper and Kraft. Also grab a scrap of muslin, a safety pin, some string and another smaller strip of scalloped black cardstock. Build the cluster by placing the larger items at the bottom and working your way up. Add some foam tape between each layer and trim any unseen parts of the stickers to use in your other clusters. Thread the string through the safety pin, drape it over the cluster and add a few drops of clear drying glue to keep it in place.

Once you're happy with the first cluster it is just a case of using smaller pieces of the same elements to create the second and third.

Try and mix things up a bit by using the elements in different ways, such as using the string to tie the rose and leaves together rather than threading it through the safety pin but try not to add any new pieces.

All that's left now is to add the title, journalling and fill out the background with some small touches. Use a black pen to lightly trace over some of the gridlines on the Payday paper, punch some small butterflies and glue some tiny scraps of muslin randomly over the page.

And we're all done!

Thanksgiving Placeholders

It's time to get a little crafty with Thanksgiving approaching. Since we won't be traveling for the holiday this year, I am looking forward to spending lots of time in the kitchen cookin' up a meal for the family. I usually don't decorate the table with any major Thanksgiving decor, but this year I plan on spicing it up, just a little.

I made these super simple paper acorn place holders and decorated each of them with fall die-cut embellishments & chipboard accents. I used my trusty Silhouette die-cut machine to cut out the large acorn and backed the tops of the acorns with extra cardstock for sturdiness. The small leaves on each acorn was cut out using the Slice die-cut machine.

I love pennants, so these little acorns couldn't be without a few pennant banners addressed with each persons name - I love how the tiny ABC Stickers come into play with this project.

My daughter had the pleasure of picking out the colors and patterns for her
acorn. As you can see, she is quite proud of hers. What I loved most about this project was that it took me only an hour to complete, with the assistance of my little one, of course.
