Hello Sunshine Flower Bracelet

Adore making simple pieces of jewelry out of scrapbook products. It's always a nice change and something really fun to do. Today I want to share with you how I created this chipboard bracelet using the Hello Sunshine collection of Chipboard flowers. It's simple and easy & makes a statement!

Each package has two of the same size & shape of chipboard flowers.

Even though the chipboard flowers come already sticky with adhesive, you want to use Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive to adhere both chipboard flowers together for re-enforcement and sturdiness.

Adhere each piece together, creating a double sided look. If adhesive oozes out on the edges, remove with an xacto knife when dry.

I decided to add some color to each flower chipboard for fun. Here, I sanded each side of chipboard flower. This added a nice texture to the chipboard and lots of color for accent!

Cover one side with mod podge, let dry & continue on the opposite side. When completely dry on both sides, add mod podge around the edges of the flowers. This will also protect against subtle damages to your chipboard flowers and expansion. Continue to do this until you get the look and texture you want (adding your favorite stamped images or rub-ons would be another fun way to accent your bracelet).

Hole punch on each side of flower chipboard pieces, using your crop-a-dile smallest hole setting, and add jump rings (18 gauge) to each and connect together. Add a lobster claw or toggle clasp for closure.

I made this on a Saturday morning & wore it the rest of the day while out shopping with the family. I received a several nice compliments as well :) It's fun, simple & easy to make and perfect to wear with any casual outfit!

It's that time again...for CHA! We are so excited about our new collections and thought it would be fun for you to guess the names of each one of them. For the next 3 Tuesdays we will give you a riddle to each one of our collections along with a *little* sneak peek.

View our riddle and leave your guess. You can leave as many guesses as you would like. The first one to answer correctly will win the NEW Collection. You'll have to be patient though, we won't ship it to you until August but it will certainly be worth the wait!

Best of Luck and Thanks for Playing! All 3 Collections will be revealed the week of July 19th.

*HINT* It is not about fish. 2 Words. It's not obvious from the riddle-you'll have to do some thinking :)

*You can do the same thing with a ball as you do with a fish* *Take note of the words-dive, tumble or spill*

Inspiration

If your any thing like me - you find inspiration every where you look!!  Well that's what happened with me when i created this layout - even though the end look didn't come out the way i envisioned it - its where the inspiration came from!  I bought these cute capris for my daughter and LOVED the patchwork - i thought it would look perfect on paper.
So the process began - i got my cardstock and a ruler and measured where i wanted the squares and lightly traced with a pencil so i knew where to cut.
Then i used my cutter making sure it was lined up evenly and i didn't over cut - i cut them all out. If your a pro with an exacto - that might be easier.
Then i cut 3 squares a little larger than my openings and glued them to the back of the cardstock.  I did distress the inside edges of the openings before doing this.
The finished product - i ended up stitching around the squares but decided to leave of the zig zag stitching for fear it might take away from the picture and i needed a place for journaling because my picture was so large.  But i can tell you right now - i will be doing this again - with that zig zag stitch in the middle. I used the Lovely collection for this layout!
So what inspires you??  Let us know and show what you've done on a layout or other project.  Upload your layouts to the Ning gallery and they just might show up here on Friday Faves!  Thanks for your Lily Bee love and support!

Thanks

Lovely Pendant

>> Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I love turning paper into more than just layouts.  Don't get me wrong, i love creating layouts.  But i also get great joy seeing my scrap supplies become more.  I want to show you how i created this Lovely Pendant and show how Lilybee works so well with other manufactures, like Fancy Pants Artist Frames.

My supplies include Lilybee pattern paper, some Lilybee Rub-ons, alcohol ink, and a few flower embellishments.
First i traced out the shape on one of my favorite Lilybee pattern papers from the Lovely collection.

I inked the frame a little bit to give it a shabby vintage feel.  I picked a color that would compliment my pattern paper choice.

After placing my pattern paper into the frame, i wanted to see where everything would go so i moved around the rub-ons & embellishment until i found a placement i liked.   That little birdie makes me so happy.  I tried to fit the happy happy joy joy in the whole frame but it didn't work.  In the end, i decided on "Joy."
I adhered the paper down and put the rub-ons in place.

Next i filled the frame with a clear liquid glue.  I let it dry a little and then added my flowers.  The flowers appear to float in the frame.  I added some more clear liquid glue over the flowers to protect them.
How cute & easy to create a piece of wearable art.  I hope you grab some of your favorite Lilybee products & create your own pendant!

Lily Bee and Stamping

>> Tuesday, June 22, 2010

I love to incorporate stamping in my layouts (only because it makes me feel less guilty about buying them hehe). I find that using my stamps with Lily Bee papers are so easy because the colors and patterns are so versatile and easy to match with most stamps.

Here are a couple of layouts with hand colored stamped images...

The first layout features Hello Sunshine Papers and Rub-ons together with a stamp from Penny Black.

The second one has Lily Bee Die Cut papers, chipboard, and Rub-ons, together with a stamp from Mo's Pencil Shop.

Hope you can try using your stamps with your Lily Bee Papers too!

Making some shabby chic Lily Bee!

>> Monday, June 21, 2010

I love that Lily Bee products already have a rather "modern vintage" vibe (hush, I know that's an oxymoron, but go with me, k?), and it really goes great with my penchant for shabby chic style.

When scrapping these pics from the beach, I wanted to make a big background using the awesome Lily Bee rub ons. I cut bits and snips from all of the different rub ons, and put them randomly on a big square of white cardstock, that was inked/distressed, and then matted with some Hello Sunshine paper.

Then, to give the text a more muted feel, I lightly brushed white paint right on top of the rub ons. I left the words right under the picture on the left untouched, because I wanted there to be a little more focus on those words.

I also lightly rubbed some brown distress Stickles along the edges of the white cardstock and the torn pieces of patterned paper (these particular ones are from the Lovely collection).
I also sanded down the adorable chipboard buttons (I love, love, love them!) and scattered them throughout the layout.

Growing Lovely

>> Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Good Morning!

Today I have a two page layout to share featuring Lily Bee's Lovely Collection

Every June, the most amazing peonies bloom in our backyard. I always make sure to get a picture of my two children in front of the full blooms. It was shocking to compare the photo of my daughter from this year to last year. It seems like she went from a baby to a little girl so fast. I knew i wanted to highlight the change in a layout by making a tree to symbolize her growth.

The Lovely Die Cuts were perfect as part of my tree. And since I do not have a circle stencil, I used tupperware lids to make the three other circles! The two smaller pink circles are the same size and then I used one large circle to anchor the tree.

I cut the chipboard in half to make the clouds. I layered different sized pieces on top of the large clouds and used Helmar's Zapdots to adhere the layered pieces. Butterflies with jeweled sequins seemed to be the perfect touch for the clouds.

Finally, I added stitching to draw attention to the title and the butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by today!!! I hope you have a LOVELY day.

Miss 'A'.

>> Monday, June 14, 2010

Good Morning everyone!

I have been wanting to do a page about the 1,001 nicknames we have for our daughter, and so I finally made time to just do it. The journaling literally fell together...i bet most people could think of quite a few random nicknames they have for their kids, right?

I decided to make my own little journaling tag/spot with a piece of the 'Exclusive' patterned paper from the French Couture collection from Lily Bee's first release...i loooooooove the ledger on the B side and have hung onto every little bit, so this piece came in handy. i just trimmed it to the same size as my photo, edged it with some blue paint and then drew in my journaling lines. i cut a few of the Lovely Chipboard Pieces in half to make a border that separates the journaling spot from my photo...and added a few of the Chipboard buttons in between.

just a quick way to use up favorite tidbits of paper, etc. that you have on hand but can't bear to part with...and an easy topic to journal about, in case you ever hit a bout of writer's block!
