'FALL' in love with Audrey.........

>> Tuesday, October 27, 2009

if you haven't already - you will after using this line with your Autumn/Fall pictures. The rich yellows and and reds are perfect for your fall layouts. And it just so happens these fall pictures from last year had blue, black and red in them. PERFECT! I used my sillouhette to cut the leaves out of Audrey patterned paper. The background was done by spritzing with some Lemon Metalic Maya mist to bring the yellow out. Rubon's and Frames are from the Audrey line too.

the script paper I used on this card is from and old book - but the blue, yellow and reds are all from the audrey line. THis fabulous Halloween mini album was done by Jill Sprott - she's done an awesome job utilizing the Audrey collection - i think i see at least one of EVERY paper in the collection!
SO get out those fall photos and if your struggling and try to match them up with the Audrey line - its the perfcet combination!
Katrina decided to use the French Coutre line which is also fabulous with Fall photos!
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to upload projects over at our Ning site.

WOW finding lost of fabulousness! I know that's not a word but that's the word to best describe what I've been seeing over at our Ning site and at Two Peas. Here is some eye candy for you:
Found this in the Two Peas Gallery by scrappygirljen. I thought it was so fun how she created the circles along the sides.

Here is one by GudRun again over at Two Peas. Simple and classy.

Melanie Blackburn's layout caught my eye over on our Ning site. I love the various papers layered under her photo.

The Vintage Poppy is so versatile for fall. I love how Jana Eubank used her Noel Mignon kit for a perfect Harvest page.

Monday Motivator

Happy Monday!

Monday is one of the busiest days of the week, and it can be a challenge to find time to get your scrap on in the midst of accomplishing a sizable "to do" list. No worries -- today's post is all about quick and easy ways to use Lily Bee's Audrey line. Both of the pages featured today use Audrey Fashion Frames and Audrey "Classy" patterned paper in some way:

Layout #1: "Our Girls"
"Our Girls" came together in just over 30 minutes. I began by prepping my cardstock, misting over the negative spaces from the Audrey Fashion Frames. I also lightly misted the large flower with cream-colored mist, and went over the little flower with blue stamping ink. Within minutes, the cardstock was dry, and I began to work on the page itself.

Much of my Audrey stash has been reduced to little scraps, but even those scraps are precious. They became the basis of the photo's "frame." I pieced together a foundation of scraps, but rather than spending time gluing each piece methodically, I just swiped each piece with a little bit of glue, drew "frames" around a few of the pieces, and then turned up the edges to add texture and dimension. To add a bit more color to the black and white paper, I used a blue watercolor pencil to fill in a few flowers, and went over them quickly with a thin brush while standing at my kitchen sink. The watercolor pencil also came in handy around the title. My sewing machine is always at the ready, so I stitched around the photo twice, to add a bit more definition to it.

Handwritten journaling always speeds along the process, as do hand-drawn lines and frames. The effect may not be as clean or precise as typewritten journaling or ruler-guided lines, but it's definitely more charming and personalized, which is what I wanted to capture on this page.

Layout #2: "Oh Brother"
"Oh Brother" was also created rather quickly, thanks in large part to the Audrey Fashion Frames that I used here. By combining three of the frames and a square piece of Audrey "Classy" paper, the page came together in no time at all. To create the "scalloped" border under the title, I cut in half the colored circles that are included in the Audrey rub-ons, and placed them alongside each other. This time around, I typed my journaling. Because finding the words was challenging for me, typing actually sped up my process, since I could compose my words and revise them prior to putting them on the page.

If you have any pages that use the Audrey line in quick and easy ways, be sure to post them on Lily Bee's Ning site. We'd love to see them! And you never know -- you just may be featured as one of our Friday Faves!

Happy Friday everyone!
I hope that you are having a beautiful fall day.

This morning I took a stroll through the gallery at our NING site to see what I could find.
There is SO much inspiration to be found there, please stop by if you have a chance.

Here are the layouts that caught my eye this week.

Puzzle by June Goh.
I love the way June cut the paper to make fun and funky flowers.

Dad's Little Girl by Antionette van Hattum.
This is just such a strong, striking design. I really like the way Antoinette put everything together here, and that little birdie tab is adorable.

Love the Beach by Lucy Edson.
LOVE this page. the hearts, the masking/misting, the texture...it's an awesome page to be sure.

Have a great weekend, and upload your projects to our NING site. Next week this could be you!!

a bit sketchy on a Tuesday.

good morning everyone...Nicole here.

i will confess, and this will sound odd.
i have a hard time with sketches.
weird, right?
i can't quite put my finger on why, lol...but i do.
so i decided to take on the sketch challenge today...to help me fear them a bit less maybe?!
here's the sketch we all used...from the PageMaps website...the only one i ever visit when in need of a sketch. this was for a 12x12 page...(i love that they also offer 8.5x11 sketches.)

and here are a few layouts the Design Team came up with, using the above sketch as a guideline.

Observation by Katrina Huerta

(i just love how Katrina used that bold rub-on from the Audrey line as the title for this.)

No Doubt by Jill Sprott

(seriously?! Jill set out to show that the black & white papers in the Audrey line can be adapted to use with any bold color you may have in your stash...mission accomplished...WOW!!)

My New Family by Lori Gentile

(Lori's details always catch my eye...look at those cool pleated flowers!)

Because to Her... by Nicole Harper

(i decided to make an 8.5x11 with this sketch...just eyeballed the proportions a bit. and i disassembled one of the brown tulle flowers to use as a border above my photo.)

Blow by Brenda Hurd
(love how Brenda reworked the sketch...placing the embellishments in different places, etc.)
so there you have it...5 takes on a theme.

everyone starting at the same point, but ending someplace different.

(and i've broken my fear of sketches a bit, so i'm pretty happy!!)

have a lovely week!!

Happy Friday to all! Welcome to another edition of Friday Faves. This week we have some more wonderful and amazing layouts to share with you.

"Face of an Angel" by CamillaE is so striking. I love the shape she created and the adorable photo of her son. I love all of the layering, especially the tags behind the photo.

Is this not the sweetest photo you've ever seen? It's too cute for words. I love it! What a gorgeous two pager!!! "To Love Well" is by Jenni Hufford.

Emmy Brannstrom created this adorable page, "My Precious" for her pet. Not only is the picture by her friend wonderful, but her attention to detail really makes it stand out on the page.

We want to thank everyone for uploading layouts and projects to our Ning gallery. We are having a great time pulling our Friday Faves from the gallery each week.

A quick reminder to enter our Audrey Challenge. The deadline, October 20th, is coming up soon. We look forward to seeing your entries.
