Must Have Scrapbook Supply? Alpha Stickers and Patterned paper - I have issues with hoarding both of these - its so easy to buy and so hard to let go!

When & Why did you start scrapbooking? My husband (boyfriend back then) went on an LDS mission. He sent home lots and lots of pictures and so I started a scrapbook for him and then never stopped after that.

Guilty Pleasures...A Diet Dr. Pepper in the freezer so it gets just a little slushy, Tootsie Rolls, sneaking in the bathroom to read my scrapbook magazines, making cookies just so I can eat the dough!

Two things you want very badly at this moment? A Sillhoutte - I don't own any die cut machines at all - I think this one would be fun. And right now - at this moment - I havn't had my dr. pepper yet, so that sounds yummy!

3 items that are in your purse..Sunglass's (great place to get broken), Cell Phone, Lip gloss

Favorite Scrapbook Technique/ or Style? I love to distress, whether its just roughing up the edges of the paper or inking everything - love it.

When do you feel most creative? After my kids go to bed - I can't even think while they are running around - my scrapbook light turns on at about 8 PM and then I can't wait to get them down.

Do you snack while you scrapbook? If so what? NOPE- I've had a bowl of cereal (I know- not very smart) end up all over one of my layouts and I've learned not to eat while I scrap. I've had sticky tootsie roll fingers ruin pictures too.

Do you have a scrapbook confession? That I do it WAY to much - but some how don't have enough time to do all I want.

Favorite Tv Shows? Bachelor (very bad addiction), Greys, Biggest Loser

Jobs you've had? I worked on an assembly line at IOMEGA when I was 16, got a job in the mortgage industry when I was 18 and have done that ever since.

What are you listening to right now? Monsters inc. Baylee is having some quiet time.

Rub-on and Die Cut Happy!

>> Monday, June 22, 2009

Hi. Lori Gentile here, today. I am absolutely obsessed with our rub-ons and die cuts. They add just the right touch of "some-something" to make a layout really pop!

On this first layout, I traced the outside of the French Couture bracket onto each side of the Three Little Birds Double Dutch notebook paper and cut it out to make a fun shaped page. I, then, layered the brackets on the edges with some lace peeking out. I added a rub-on under the picture to anchor it. I thought it would add some balance to the heavy journaling on the top of the page. This page is about how my husband and I met. I wanted to get that story down for my kids and I'm glad I was able to find a way to do that.

This second page makes me so HAPPY because there is a lot of whimsy going on! If you haven't tried our 12 x 12 rub-ons, you need to. I can't tell you how cool it is to have a rub-on that can be used as a full border. The fact that they are text is even better. For this layout, I did a play off of the "happy happy, joy joy" rub-on sayings. That saying (which brings back fond cartoon memories) is so true of my two-year-old. He can find the happy and the joy in anything. I took a piece of neutral cardstock and rubbed most of the top and the very bottom of the rub-on sheet to it. I was going for a whimsical look and the rub-ons really helped me do just that. My favorite rub-on is the "ha ha" falling down all crazy. It just makes me smile.

Another quick reminder that you have until Wednesday to comment on this thread for a chance to win a wonderful kit full of Lily Bee Design! I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Hi all! I really hope everyone gets a chance to use the new Lily Bee rub ons I was so excited to see that they came on a huge 12x12 sheet. And not only are they a great size, but they go on like butter. Here, I used the circle rub on and a tree under the title from the Three Little Birds accent sheet.

Three little birds....

told me that Lily Bee has AWESOME rubon's. Even if you cut them up and use them sparingly like i did on this layout. If you notice - I cut out one little pink tree and put it on the green paper that has green trees on it - very subtle - but very effective. I also cut out those cute little birds too. I've noticed too - with every layout or project i've done with Lily Bee - i've mixed up the product quite a bit. Both lines coordinate together in one way or another. On this layout i have used the B side of Fashion Show (the white with green pattern) from the French Couture line to go with the Three Little Bird line. So mix it up friends - alot of you already have - but if you havn't - give it a try and show us what you've done - and make sure you grab some of those rubons - they are fabulous.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for Friday Faves - we have been stalking those galleries to find great Lily Bee products showcased on your layouts! Thanks!

Brenda

die-cut heaven.

>> Tuesday, June 2, 2009

hi everyone...Nicole here!

echoing what Stephanie said about the mini album contest...WHOA. all of these entries are amazing, and we are so glad that so many of you entered!

i have to say that my fave Lily Bee products are the 2 types of die-cuts they offer. i decided to use them on these 2 pages...i also wanted to share a quick thought about 'old' photos.

i am in LOVE with the blue damask paper, so when i noticed that it is also on the die-cut frames page, i looked at it for awhile, and then decided to let it lead me along. i split it and used it on either side of an older pic of my daughter, on one of our many road trips. we've been known to just hop in the car and go every now and then, and i wanted to journal about how she is quite content in the back seat...all she needs is a coloring book or a pad of paper and some crayons, lol. i added the green ribbon, since i've yet to meet a green/blue combo i didn't like, lol.

next, an old photo of my grandparents while we were on a family vacation to Cape May, NJ. they always managed to sneak away for a quiet walk alone on the boardwalk...again, a story i wanted to remember. so i just used the rest of the die-cut frames as my patterned paper, then added the die-cut border along the right edge. again, don't be afraid to cut up those 12x12 rub-ons!! i used just a snippet of the circle rub-on from the 12x12 sheet around the edge of the circle die-cut paper here.

so as a reminder, if you come across an old photo that jars your memory about something...USE IT, lol! not every photo has to be perfect, and it's often those old ones that make you smile from ear to ear.
have a great week!!
=)
